1. Aims of education
I believe the goal of education is of course teaching the students the skills they need to have to succeed in life but it is also making sure the comprehend the information being taught and they are enjoying their educational experience. Three things I want students to learn in my class are respect/corporation, an enjoyable environment, and to actually learn. These three things are important because they are a part of real life. Having respect for others and knowing how to work well with others is something that is used in everyday life because everyone is going to have to interact with others no matter what they do in life. Having an enjoyable environment is important because being stressed all the time is not good and there is always time to have fun. Students that are actually learning is important and necessary for every functioning classroom, every student should learn the common core standards not just going with the motions of the lessons but really learning the information.
2. Views of knowledge and learning
Students learn in many different ways because of this teaching in one style is not ideal or recommended. Using methods that incorporate all learning styles is very important and ideal. I will know students are learning when they can to do it on their own with little or no assistance and if they can help other that might not understand the material.
3. Image of the learner and teacher
My expectations for the students are to do their best, follow instructions, and respect one another. Feel comfortable enough to ask for help and just to talk on a personal level. I hope the children learn and become the best person they can with my help. From my experience in the classroom I believe that my belief is reasonable and that as a teacher I will need to know my students on a personal level because I will be spend so much time with them throughout the year.
4. Beliefs about curriculum and pedagogy
I want students to say that they learned everything the needed to learn and a little bit more. I want them to say they liked the way I taught it was creative, fun, and was easy to learn. I want to be the teacher that the students remember and be the reason the remember how to do skills. This belief has changed a tad bit because of my experience in the field, my belief has change because even when you want to do a fun activity with they class there isn't always time and even though you know that the students would have responded well to they activity it just doesn't fit in the schedule.
5. Influence of the specific context
I believe it depends on the person if they were given a class with “trouble makers” or low performing students they won’t care as much because they cannot control the classroom like if the class was full of well-behaved and well performing students. But as a teacher I have to adapt to the situation and not let the children over power me.
6. Criteria for good (effective) teaching
I receiving both positive and negative feedback from the students is a good indications of how well the lesson went. If you get the feedback you wanted or a little bit more that’s great and you should stick to doing that for a while and then switch it up to keep the students engaged and active. If you don’t get the feedback you wanted then you should switch up your lesson right away and find a way to get the feedback you wanted.
