The True Story of Three Little Pigs by Jon Scienszka Retold from another point of view.
So we begin! We all know the tragic story of the three little pigs. We know what the media say and we have heard Al the wolf’s story but no one has asked to hear my story! My name is Officer Clifford Harris and I was the arresting office for this case. Once Upon a Time ago, it was a normal afternoon riding around the town in my patrol car with my partner Wayne Carter. As we were patrolling the town we receive a call from dispatch that has been an incident at 123 Pig Lane. When we arrived at the address where a straw house once stood, we noticed straw and blood everywhere and that the little pig that owned the house Frank was missing. As we searched the property neighbors that heard the commotion from the incident talk to me and Officer Carter. The neighbors said they heard Al the wolf yelling at Frank and before then could do anything the house was destroyed. Al and Frank were gone and there was no trace of them. After we finish hearing the witnesses’ statements, Officer Carter and I get into the patrol car to search for Al. That is when we received another call from dispatch about a similar incident at 500 Bacon Road which is Billy’s stick house, Billy is Frank’s brother. We rush over scene where a pile of sticks covered with blood is the only thing in sight besides Billy’s neighbors surrounding the scene and begging to their statements of what happened. All the neighbors said, “I heard that mean old Al asking Billy to let him into his house!” Officer Carter and I had a hunch that Wilbert Billy and Frank’s brother would be the next stop Al. We hopped into the squad car and raced over to Wilbert’s house which was made out of bricks. As we pull up to Wilbert’s house we see Al yelling and acting crazy trying to get into Wilbert’s house. From what we saw going on outside we arrested Al right on there for acting disorderly in a public setting. Officer Carter and I place Al in an interrogation room where Officer Carter asked, “What happened to Frank and Billy?” Al admitted that he ate both of them but insisted that they died by accident and that he sneezed and the houses blow down and the dies because of the house falling on them and he didn’t see the point of letting a dinner that fine go to waste. I then proceed to ask him why he went to the little pigs’ houses in the first place and he reply I needed sugar. I followed with why you didn’t just go to the store you seemed to go through a lot of trouble for just one cup of sugar. He had no answer. I arrested him for additional changes of murder, attempted murder, and harassment. Al the big bad wolf will stay in jail for the rest of his life THANKS to me!
Reflection
This week I learned the importance of why some literature is used constantly throughout the years. The some of important factor of sticking to classic literature pieces are many of the stories teach morals and lessons, there are alternative or recreated stories, and we can come up with exciting activities for the students to do with these pieces of literature. It is important to show students the alternative to some stories that they know really well to give them a new outlook on what the book is trying to teach them. I remember reading The Real Story of The Three Little Pigs when I was in elementary school. The teacher gave us various assignments but one that stuck out to me was when we had to compare and contrast that story to the original Three Little Pigs. Looking back on it now I can see why my teacher want us to do that and it was to gain understanding of the true mean behind the stories and how all stories can be told from a different point of view.
